The developments come as Freesat approaches its target of a spring launch. The company said cost would be down to retailers and refused to confirm target prices rumoured on the Digital Spy forums.

"The initial launch phase will focus on a targeted group of retailers - DSG, Comet, Argos and John Lewis - who offer wide national coverage," said spokeswoman Rozzyn Boy. "Second phase retailers are yet to be confirmed.

"Retail prices and registered installers will be determined by individual retailers, details of which are yet to be confirmed."

Meanwhile, Ofcom said it had issued a TLCS licence to Freesat to carry EPG content.
