Virgin Media is expected to show that it is reducing the number of customers leaving the company when it unveils its third quarter results later this week.
According to The Times, analysts expected Virgin to announce the loss of around 31,000 customers net in during the quarter, a significant improvement compared to the departure of 70,000 customers in the second quarter.
Acting chief executive officer Neil Berkett is expected to announce on Wednesday that Virgin Media will return to net customer growth during the second half of the year. Last month, Berkett said that the cable operator will concentrate on pushing its broadband services instead of trying to directly compete with Sky's television offering. I suppose it has to eventually get to the point, where the customer base becomes stagment, where everyone who is pissed off has left long ago, every person has had a slice of the cake and either liked it or spat it out. Still no net increase though, rather worrying for Virgin when one considers the amount of stupid offers and false advertising they do... If they cant pull customers in with that sort of practice, how they even have a hope in hells chance of getting customers in any other way I dont know lol. No wonder the current shareholders want to sell up so fast!! With regards them now "focussing on the broadband internet market" - bad move imho, there is very little, if any, profit in it nowadays thanks to the likes of Sky, Carphone Warehouse and Telefonica o2! They think the pay-tv market is tough with one competitor, they aint seen nothing yet lol! Digital Spy

But I agree, the Sky service is a different league to the shoddy mess known as Liberate... they have tidied it up a lot, but its taken them 5 years to do so, and its still not at the level of Sky. Aside from my problems with me 4 year old Sky+ box (which im investigating and seem to have fixed atm), I have had nothing but good service in general. Might be getting a HD box in the new year anyway, so me sky+ can go fook itself haha!
