Andy Taylor leaves Tranmere Rovers for Sheffield United

TRANMERE Rovers defender Andy Taylor has joined Championship side Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee today.

The 22-year-old came to Prenton Park in January last year from Blackburn Rovers after impressing during a loan spell.

He made 81 appearances for Tranmere and scored three goals.

He said: "I really enjoyed my time at Tranmere but this move was a great opportunity for me.

"I'd like to thank the Tranmere fans for their support and wish the management and all the players and staff all the best for the coming season."

Manager John Barnes said: "It was a good offer from Sheffield United and we decided to allow Andy the chance to move to a higher level.

"We're still looking to add to our squad ahead of the season and are talking to a number of clubs about both loan and permanent deals.

"I'd like to wish Andy all the best for his future career."
