MG Rover's new Chinese owners have opened a new car production line at its Longbridge factory in Birmingham. Three new MG TF sportscars were paraded about the site at a ceremony marking the official reopening by new owner Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC).
At the event, NAC added it had already invested £250m in MG, both in the UK and China, and pledged to invest more.
"We feel confident and resolute in restoring MG's former fame," said NAC chief executive Yu Jian Wei. This is excellent to see, what with all the set backs and the delays in re-opening the plant, finally they can get back to making cars and at least some of the previous workforce will have jobs to go to in the industry they love. It is excellent to see, but I can see it all going Pete Tong in the UK in the future.
I think Chinas production and sales will increase massively due to the rapidly growing economy there.
