Network Rail is midway through a five-year scheme to re-lay the whole Merseyrail track, linking Southport, Kirkby, Ormskirk, Hunts Cross and Wirral to the city centre.

The Wirral closures will mean the loop line closing from April 21 to May 28 when all services will stop at James Street.

Further works next February will hit the start of the Capital of Culture celebrations when services will stop at Hamilton Square.

In 2009 services between Moorfields and Lime Street will be hit.

Would exactly call it a joke to be honest, all track needs to be relaid eventually. Im not sure what you are expecting them to do really, either they never replace it and leave it unsafe (which you and everyone would then be moaning about), or they do it this way and have a month of rail replacement bus services.

Dunno if your expecting they can just plonk a re-route of the whole track or summit whilst the work takes place...

It is a Joke Matty.

Years ago, when they introduced the new computers at James Street the whole system was in chaos.

As i commuted to Liverpool, with delays from 40min to 2hrs
while on the train is a Joke.

And what is annoying back then i heard of people being
sacked from there jobs for being late.

don't bother going on about getting an earlier train
as there wasn't one.

So with the delays coming along, and the Routes the
replacement buses take, it can take 40mins to 60mins
to get to Liverpool from Bidston.

No i don't think anyone is Matty.
But a better Bus Replacement service that can keep up
with the demand.

Mersey Rail IMO just seems to be having Repair after Repair.
And delay after delay.

Its not repair after repair, if you used the railway you would know (my mum does every day) that Merseyrail are actually one of the reliable operators in the country!

A multi-million pound scheme to replace the tracks for the SAFETY of the trains and passengers using them is more than warranted imho.

The prices of tickets is the biggest joke though, but don't get me started on that it was my biggest rant of 2006!!

Lol grin
