Wirral community volunteers retire after 19 years TWO Wirral community volunteers have retired after 19 year's service.
Wirral's Police Commander Chief Superintendent Jon Ward presented Fred and Alison Westcott with a retirement gift, thanked them for all their hard work over the years and wished them well for their retirement.
Throughout their service, Fred and Alison have been involved in open days for agencies such as Age Concern, Pop-in, Merseyside Fire and Rescue, Mariners Home, Housing Agencies, Trading Standards, victim support and Wirral Primary Care Trust to name but a few.
They would be on hand at these events to offer crime prevention advice, distributing information and literature on behalf of Crimestoppers and Wirral Council.
A fine example of their dedication is the fact that between them they have distributed over 20,000 'Message in a Bottle' containers in conjunction with the Wallasey Lions.
They also played a huge part in setting up Wirral's Neighbourhood Watch scheme, origionally there were 32 schemes established but with Fred and Alison’s hard work and dedication this has risen to over 400 Neighbourhood Watch Schemes now operating in Wirral.
