Just wondered if the good people on Wiki, could advise me on where to go for a set of new tyres and what kind of price i'd be expected to pay?
Failed mot yesterday because of one.
Also looking for somewhere decent to have the car serviced?
Thanks in advance
smile

What size?

If your on a budget part worns can be an option, but on smaller tyres there often isnt much difference in new / 2nd hand.

Steer clear of the big tyre / exhaust places for a single tyre, and try the local tyre places - a search of yell.com should bring them up smile

Hmmm ... I have no idea what size they are blush
Last year it failed on the same thing (different tyre) and I got a part worn one then. So I wouldnt mind getting a new set, if it would be worth while.

Size is on the side of the tyre xxx/xx/xx format.

Price will depend on the tyre size and brand of tyre. Samller new tyres can be had for £35 each fitted (new) to £200 each fitted for bigger sizes and better brands.

Servicing and repairs I'd recommend Chris_Gilly on here...
not sure if he does tyres too...

For tyres I'd recommend Tunnel Tyres in Birkenhead smile

Remember some places will quote you a tyre price and then whack Vat and tyre disposal on top... so always make check what the total cost will be smile

as above - would recommend chris for mechanical but not sure if he does tyres.
ive used "keep it cheap" in birkenhead by the imo car wash and theyve been really good and cheap too for tyres.
phone number is
345 4332 - ask for Dale.

I've always used Blackcircles and the last 2 times I've used them, the fitter has asked me the price I paid, on both occasions it was cheaper than he himself could buy them in at.

Only trouble with buying online is finding someone to fit them.

A lot of places wont touch tyres if you havnt bought them from them, and if they will fit them, they tend to charge £7-£10 a tyre, so that needs to be taken in to account.
