Comedy club opens in Wirral

WIRRAL’S first ever regular comedy club is to open this bank holiday weekend.

Tallulah’s Late Lounge in New Brighton is to host The Comedy Club and the opening weekend will include one of the country’s leading comics, Milton Jones.

Joining him at the Marine Promenade venue will be MC Chris Cairns, Liverpool Comedian of the Year.

The organisers say this is just the beginning of a flood of leading comics.

Keith Carter, better known as “Merseyside’s leading scally” Nige, will also taking to the stage at Tallulah’s.

As will Neil Fitzmaurice, known for his starring role in Phoenix Nights.

Marion Thompson, owner of Tallulah’s, said: “We are so excited about welcoming the Capital of Comedy to Tallulah’s.”

It’s not just comedy on offer though when the doors open at 6.30pm ahead of the 8pm show, as early arrivals will be able to enjoy a curry buffet courtesy of Izzy from New Brighton restaurant Magic Spices.

Marion said: “Our venue is superb here on the New Brighton waterfront and the combination of our tasty curry buffet followed by an evening of side-splitting comedy means we are expecting huge crowds so people should book in advance or come along early.”

Although hosted by Tallulah’s, the comedy club is an expansion of Liverpool’s Capital of Comedy, run by comedy entrepreneur Paula Harrington.

Their weekend nights at Liverpool’s Slaughterhouse on Fenwick Street regularly feature the very best names from the national comedy circuit as well as plenty of home-grown favourites.

Paula said: “We’re so excited to be opening in Tallulah’s Late Lounge and can’t wait to tuck into our curry on the first night.

“The success of the Capital of Comedy in Liverpool has been brilliant so an expansion over to the Wirral made perfect sense and Tallulah’s offers the perfect venue.”

The comedy club will run every Friday and Saturday night from Friday, August 28.
