Concerts for Claire House this weekend

MORE than 350 young Wirral musicians will perform in two special concerts for Claire House at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton this Sunday, March 22.

The concerts are being staged by Wirral Schools’ Music Service and the Mayor of Wirral’s charity appeal to showcase local music talent and help raise funds for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

The shows are the latest in a series of bi-annual 'Quids for Kids' concerts, which have raised money for children’s charities for almost two decades.

Bands, orchestras and a choir from the service’s nine music centres and ensembles will be performing in the shows.

The matinee performance starts at 3pm and features a huge range of popular tunes, including music by The Beatles and the soundtracks to some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.

The evening performance starts at 7pm and includes a mix of well-known West End show tunes, with a taster of some fine English Folk songs.

Brian Jones, from the organising team said: "These shows are the culmination of months of dedication and practice by hundreds of local young musicians and promise something for everyone.

"And with tickets at just £6 they’re probably the best value concerts you’ll find anywhere this year and of course the proceeds are going to a very good cause."

Tickets for each performance are £6 and available from the Floral Pavilion box office until Saturday (11am-6pm, by phone on 0151 666 0000 or online at www.floralpavilion.com
