Bromborough Pool was the second oldest ‘industrial’ village in the United Kingdom (the first was Saltaire near Bradford in Yorkshire in 1850). The Wilson’s bought 42a. of land which formerly part of the Court House Farm at Bromborough. An extra 19a. of land was then required and on 22 August 1853 the final agreement was signed with the seller of the land and Price’s paid £12,267 10s (the equivalent of about £670,000
