Yes Mark your right ,also staff are having to start paying for parking from sept ,fees on 'sliding scale' deducted from wages .
They are saying we are 'paying' to use 'access barrier 'to gain entry to carpark .In all honestly it is,nt much , but the overall revenue will be massive ...as the NHS are the second highest employers on the wirral .

Try the parking at Liverpool Royal, if you get on one of the two bit of waste land it's £3 all day, go to the Royal car-park and it can cost you £9 a day, that excludes £1:70p tunnel each way, today it cost us £7 parking and £1:70p tunnel each way seems the people of Wirral will be paying that sort of prices when they move Clatterbridge over to that site, it's your NHS but the parking is somebody elses

hey missmahjong - I thought staff already paid for parking? My wife works there and has a car park tag - already pays by monthly salary deduction

I work at Clatterbridge , 10 years , and up to now have not paid towards parking , i believe it is/was because i 'work' for CCC , which is run by a differant part of of the trust . I am a domestic on 5/8 shift..But it looks like all change.....

There is loads of free parking, they give the option of premium parking to help fund all parking (yes, shock horror, car parks do cost money).

They can't win, one minute they get criticised that NHS money is being used for car parking, the next they get criticised for charging for car parks ..... you can't have it both ways!!!

They have recently been looking at having more flexible visiting hours to reduce the peak loading on parking and hence create more chance of getting a place in the free car parks.

I always thought APH staff paid for their own parking to be honest, same with CBH staff, i thought they did too.

and in relation to "clatterbridge moving to the royal" it's only the CCC that's moving, the rest is staying.

I've not got a problem with paying to park at a hospital to visit, in fact i'm all for visitors paying, patients however i don't think should pay. They don't really have a choice, it's not like they're going there to do a bit of shopping or anything.

Staff do get charged to use the staff car park at APH, though I can't see any legal way of preventing them from using the free car parks (if they can find a space). The free car parks are free because they on parkland and hence are public car parks, the council may be able to charge for them but the hospital can't.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is now at Aintree University Hospital( was Fazakerley)and the car parking charges there are a lot more than Arrowe Park, so with the tunnel costs and fuel even for a visit to the clinic say for 2 hours it will cost in the region of £10 to £12.

I understood Fazakerley unit was just part of the network, not that Clatterbridge had closed down in place of.

If they do close CC Clatterbridge, then it will rebound and cost the NHS much more in hindsight. Who is going to be prepared (or even able) to pay all the travel costs when they have to receive radiotherapy every day for 5 weeks at least.
Considering how much cancer is on the increase, the hospital transport will cost an arm and a leg for picking up and dropping off all those sick people who need transporting there and back.

From when I worked there we were told about 5 maybe less years the wards and the main bulk of the Clatterbridge cancer centre would have moved over to Liverpool . I understood that there would still be treatment going on in Bebington but to a far lesser degree. It's a great shame because CCC at beb is well respected and is a very friendly and caring place. I think it's because it's quite small and people don't get lost and become just numbers as sometimes happens in big hospitals. It will be mussed very much I think, both by staff and patients..

Clatterbridge CC site is just an outpost now, the main unit is at Aintree. To pacify the objectors to this move they kept the name even though it causes total confusion. In retaliation they should rename the Clatterbridge site to Aintree.

Many treatments are for people from outside the area so the transport hasn't changed much for most.

Last time I was at Aintree the multi story car parking was adequate but trying to find a wheelchair was impossible. Sign posting left a lot to desire as well.
