Somebody stole my friends and their neighbours wheelie bins yesterday. I wish somebody would take the two brown abandoned wheelie bins in my road. It has made my friend hyper sensitive about the kids playing out on their front now.

Why would anyone wish to steal wheelie bins.

I have been thinking though . Yes, really !

For those of us who object to paying for brown bin emptying, and those who don't pay, anyone can put anything in the green bins, including garden waste. What is to stop us all having a second green bin for garden waste and ditching the brown bin ? The cost is equivalent to one years charge for the brown bin.

Makes sense really.

The council will not allow you to have 2 green bins unless very special circumstances.

You are not allowed to put the recyclable material in the Green bin.

Oh Dilly .. blush kissy, kissy !

Star, thank you. That is how I understood it, having been informed by the council a while back.

The phantom granny might be off seeking bins shortly. Only hope I don't bump into the sower of wild oats.

I bought a second green bin and both were emptied regularly until I received a letter from the council saying that only one green bin would be emptied. That was more than two years ago and everyone in my road had 2 bins. The binmen had been given a list to check that only one bin should be emptied in the future. So we all have to manage now and I pay someone to take the rest to the tip!

In that case, it could still be managed, depending on how much general waste we have. For example - leaves, weeds, prunings etc. could easily be accommodated in with the general rubbish, in one bin, grass cuttings one a fortnight could go in the other bin. Make sure waste which decomposes is managed for the 2 weekly collection and just put one bin out at a time.

Obviously , people like yourself Muzzy, may have larger families than some of us, but for myself ,it could be managed.

To get back to the original post, I suppose councils have a prerogative to replace any stole bins, so therefore it is their problem if there are any going missing. Pretty annoying for the householder , but easily resolved. Sometimes these bins are simply moved along the road as they do here, when the culprits come out of the pub late.

I got my other green bin free off the council because at the time I there were 7 of us 8 later on which at the time we were entitled,it was anyone who had 7+ in a family there was only one other large family in the street with a second bin & we both got the 2 bins emptied.I've moved now & there's only 4 of us but I've got a garden now problem solved went to Mc coys & asked for a fire bin, they drilled the holes in & it only cost £10

I know. I agree I thought if you go out to kidnap a child but you don`t see any, you wouldn`t take two green wheelie bins instead. (not much difference really!) But I didn`t think it was the time or the place.
