What tyres does everyone use?

when it comes to winter do you change to winter tyres with it raining more, do you just leave summer ones on, or do you buy all weather ones all year round?? do you have a prefered make of tyre?

have seen these for £34.60 each including delivery which seems like a very good price, the majority of reviews say they are great for the money too.

Toyos are good all round tyres - the Proxy P1's seem to be soft enough for a good grip, but hard enough to get a few miles from smile

Goodyear Eagles are the best road tyre Ive used, but are quite pricy.

The Skyline has some budget jobbies on ATM (on when I got the car) but if I change the wheels - or when the tyres give out, Toyos are being fitted smile

These are the only thing that keep you car in contact with the black stuff - I figure its worth spending on tyres to keep you on the black stuff laugh

have got the Toyo Proxie T1-S's on the rear at the moment, cant afford them for the front this time around though frown

heard nothing but good about the Eagles, they look rather nice to laugh

afraid its gonna be the kumho's at the moment though, from what i hear they are better than any other tyres for the same price which'll do for me until i get the money for some better ones next time around smile

Only tyre better than this in my experience is the Goodyear Eagle F1's, which cost about £75 a corner for 17" wheels! My Astra wears those Kumho Ecstas, and they really made a big difference to the handling, I'll deffo be getting another set for my next boots smile smile

What do you do when you make the best performing tyre in the wet?

You start again and make a better one!

That's what's happened with the new Proxes T1-R, the new, natural choice for enthusiastic drivers. The Proxes T1-R boasts a special performance compound and tread pattern which gives incredible road holding in all conditions, especially in the wet. The V-shaped grooves in the tread pump water away allowing the rubber to grip the road.

These are bounded by circumferential grooves which allow the Proxes T1-R to give you even better wet grip whilst being quieter and longer lasting as well. And, whilst practical, these design elements also makes the tyre look spectacular on any car.
The Proxes T1-R is introduced in a range of the most popular high performance sizes.
It will increasingly cover more sizes from 14" up to 20" and beyond as further sizes are added.
Proxes T1-R will gradually replace the Proxes T1-S to be the ultimate tyre for performance use.

The T1-R is one of the most powerful and stylish tyres on the market

Just Guess what i have a full set of just waiting to be fitted at work onto my Impreza

=================================================

What makes a good tyre

Mileage : Michelin are the hardest compound tyre in europe therefore giving the best mileage return, however this long lasting tyre does come with shortfalls also, the grip is not that good especially in the wet.

Grip : Toyo, Pirelli & Yokahama are probably the three softest compound tyres in europe therefore giving you the most traction possible, however these very grippy tyres do also have there shortfalls, the mileage return on them is very very poor.

What you are paying for in a tyre is the rubber Compound, a cheap tyre has poor rubber compound and an expensive tyre has a high quality of rubber compound.

Hard compound tyres are good for lasting a long time and soft compound tyres are good for grip.

There is no such thing as a great grippy tyre that lasts a long time, My Impreza has just chewed up a full set of Yokahama A539 tyres in approx 7,000 miles If i had of chosen Michelin's these probably would have lasted me approx 30,000 miles.

Kuhmo are a good economy tyre and are probably the best available for the quality and price.

What size were they ? It makes a big differance.....

Also dont forget you will pay approx £10 per wheel for fitting, New tubeless valves and wheel balancing.

The cilo 182 came with Michelin pilot sport 2's on.

these are meant to be the best tyre going, so far the grip is amazing and i have not used a better tyre, and trust me on the pug i went thru every tyre going, so at 205 40 17, here are my con's:

Toyo's T1-s (Not the new T1-r):
These where the best gripping tyre on the earth, in the wet, no one beats them, BUT they only lasted me 2 1/2 months. wow i hear u say. NO I DONT DO WHEELSPINS AND HANDBRAKES.
When i went back to DT, they said yeh so what, loads a people go thru them in weeks.OMG. cost from DT: £139 for two fitted and blanced.

Pirelli P7000:
Amazing but ££££: lasted 6 months, also good in any condition. would say go for them apart from the £200 price tag for two fitted and balance.

Yokahama AVS sports:
OK, not bad lasted 4 months, didnt like them.
cost £121 for two fitted and balanced.

Falken 512:
Not bad but Not good: lasted 2 months and grip was not good. cost only £102 for 2 fitted and balacned

Stunner sport:
OK for ££££££ £80 for two fitted.

Good Year Eagle F1:
10/10 amazing but only lasted 3months on the pug, but throw it into any corner and they will hold the road like glue.
Cost £176 for two fitted and balanced.

Michelin pilot sport 2's:
These are what im using now on the clio 182, these so far are really good, only done 1500 miles, so not enough to give a detail report, the size is not 17, its 205 45 16 and they do cost an arm and a leg, so far the best price i have is £140 each fitted, so thats £560 for 4 fitted and balanced. OMG.

But at the end of the day You get for what u pay for, dont try and save a few £££ and go for cheap ass GOOD MONTHS Sparrow F2. LOL
Tryes keep you and ur car on the road.

Hope this helps
