With traveling a fair bit now to and from work, I could really do with some breakdown cover, should the worst happen....

Can anyone recomend which one is the best value for money?

All I really need is recovery to home. Not fussed about them trying to fix the car on the roadside, nor do I need home start, just the right cover to get the car recovered home should anything break.

Thanks

I am with the AA through my bank.

On the way home from Wales on some rural road in the middle of nowhere my mates car blew up leaving oil absolutly everywhere.

I didn't have a clue where i was, but i mentioned a couple of signs to them and an AA truck was with us within half an hour towing us home.

He was a very nice man, a very very nice man a ver.......... You get the picture.

I once broke down in my old german piece of crap, a VW Polo when i was with the RAC and they took about 3 hours to arrive in an unsuitable local contractors truck (that wouldn't take me all the way home anyway)

I was only about 40 min drive away from home and it took me about 5 hours.

I personally think the AA is best service in my past experiences, but i have heard bad reports about them (as i have with all the companies)

Its worth noting that with the AA and maybe others too,

THAT
If you go for the monthly payments there is no opt out option.

As your actualy repaying a finance company the total for your Yearly Subscription.

So the the AA gets paid in full and
you pay the finance off over the 12 months.

NO Opt OUT....

Others may do the same thing too...
Ask about terms for cancelling too. happy

Cheers for the Info guys smile

Taken one out with the RAC, just over £60 per year. There where chaeper options but this was the only one that offered recovery to any UK destination rather than the nearest garage (Not really fussed on a greasy monkey I dont know fiddling with the car) - its also a personal cover rather than vehicle cover, and so covers me in any car smile

Cheers again thumbsup

I was told the AA was the best as they always try and fix the car as this is cheaper for them whereas the others are all less interested as they are still going to bill the insurance company. Hence when you get breakdown cover with insurance companys it usually green flag or RAC etc. Best option for them is the easiest and most expensive tow you.

To be honest, im not that bothered about the roadside assistance, just the recovery to home.

Not sure I like the idea of someone performing a roadside bodge on the car - would rather get it home and sort it properly myself.

for those of you with a barclays account. you get breakdown cover that tows you home (and a load of other benfits) with the additions account. and thats just £13 per month, really is worth it.
