Just wonder what opinions are on such a long sentence of solitary confinement.

This chap and two others constantly said they were innocent of the crimes they were imprisoned for. Two have been released previously and Albert Woodfox is now to be released after 43 years in solitary.

Someone is calling for retrial.

Certain American states are particularly cruel IMO, and I can see no purpose in keeping this man incarcerated any longer. It's a sad tale of which I am sure there are many in USA.

How can anyone survive that ? The pain endured by their families must have been just as bad and how on earth will he and they be able to adjust now ,is that likely to be worse ?

Horrendous. A fate worse than death surely. I can`t imagine the mental health issues he`s got now.

Heard this on the radio yesterday,So sad .....43 years for a crime he did not commit.

That's an unjustified assumption.

go out and slaughter as many cops as He could find after all they are the reason he lost his life.

Then go out rhoul moat style with cops shooting him in the head and them blaming him for it.

Blood would be spilt, slaughter the sheep until their brains bleed (which technically wouldn't happen).

Getting mixed up with some other news i heard yesterday.

I think a total of 4 courts have found him not guilty, though its sometimes vague if its the original crime or the subsequent prison murder to which they refer, it was overturned 3 times.

From Nov 2014 to February 2015, the State ignored the court ruling and kept him locked up.

Witnesses and courts have been subsequently discredited, years ago.

He didn't help himself by escaping immediately after his initial ruling then joining the Black Panthers, it doesn't sound like the actions of a person who thought they would be successful on appeal.

This is now a final ruling which is not allowed to be appealed.

It would be easy to believe there is no smoke without fire but we are talking about Louisiana and their acute hatred of the Black Panthers as well as their corrupt court system (the jury foreman was basically a ringer).

And yet again he's not been released.

Very cruel. What's the betting he has a stroke or heart attack or committed to a psychiatric wing, before he is released.

Albert Woodfox was one of the three convicted for the same thing, one of the others was Herman Wallace. Amnesty international called for Herman's release because he was dying. A judge ordered his release, the state immediately re-indicted him but didn't bother re-arresting him. He died 3 days after his release after 42 years in solitary.

Robert Hillary King was the third member of the gang who was released after 29 years using a plea bargain to a lesser offence.

Collectively they are known as the Angola Three - there is no shortage of reading on the internet.

Yes, I've read about it and also remember the Black Panther's fight for civil rights.
Today the black minority are still fighting for civil rights and how many of them have been killed in the process ? How many USA police have been incarcerated for 40yrs in solitary confinement ? None !
