Talking to my wife about whats good for hanging baskets and she suggested trailing lobelia, trailing petunia. My lad piped up from the other room and a padlock to stop the thieves.

Busy lizzies are good, once the plugs are planted in your hanging basket ,add some miracle grow to your soil and you will get your busy lizzies blooming in no time . Pansies and ivy is another good one . If any time Mrs fish want any plant cuttings just give us a shout .

Definitely trailing lobelia, always looks stunning ,busy lizzie ,begonias and any plant that doesn't need constantly dead heading. Pansies, as lovely as they are, become a pain and so do my petunias.

cheers. see some fantastic ones on my rounds--really envious but look like they must have cost an arm and a leg to plant. Was given some of those conical baskets --right pain to fill -having to stand them in a bucket. Lets hope it warms up a bit soon.

Whatever you plant, remember they need watering regularly; worth incorporating some water retaining gel pellets.

Ah surfinias are my fave and not much trouble to dead head. No cutting. In fact sometimes the flower dies and gets pushed out by the new flower. I love the blaze of colour all summer.

I'm a great fan of trailing lobelia! Nasturtiums can look good, and don't mind it a bit dry - I think the Gleam hybrids are sort of medium size, they don't trail too far. Bacopa is another cute trailer, most commonly found with white flowers, though mauve is available - bidens has yellow daisy-style flowers on trailing stems. These things go well with the more clumpy plants, threading through them and softening the general effect. If the basket has some shade, trailing fuchsias can also be effective.

Trailing fushsias are very effect Greenwood. I had them in hanging baskets last year and took them in from the cold during winter{stored them in the garage}Then hanged the baskets back out in the spring this year.Once they start to bloom and the leaves change colour they look lovely.Saves alot of money having to buy hanging plants each Spring and Summer season. They do need extra watering everyday but its worth it.
