2015 Wirral Egg Run Merseyside Police is calling on riders to enjoy themselves safely and responsibly during this year’s planned Wirral Egg Run event which is due to take place on Sunday, 22 March. The riders are expected to gather at New Brighton Dips at 11am and will then follow a pre-determined route which ends at Claremont Farm, Clatterbridge. The event seeks to raise money for a number of local charities. Officers are calling on all those taking part to do so safely and responsibly and are also reminding motorists that roads on the route are likely to be extremely busy from 11am and into the afternoon. Area Commander for Wirral, Chief Superintendent John Martin, said: "The majority of people taking part are there to raise money for good causes and to enjoy themselves safely. "I'd urge everyone taking part to make sure they stick to the Highway Code and don't put themselves or other riders or pedestrians at risk by speeding. This should make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable day. "I’d also remind everyone that the roads are likely to be really busy on the day of the event and motorists may want to think about their route to help avoid any congestion." Anyone who has concerns about the event can call officers on the 101 number. Source : Click The Route : Taken from source click me

Yes they did Mark but I think they know it will go on with or without their approval. Power to the people ! It's something I look forward to every year.

A link to a map on the police site showing the route they are taking would have been of use or a list of the roads with a rough timetable

I've ridden most of them since the start, since it took off it's became so big it became a matter of funding. It's not that the police want to stop it as such, they don't get funding for the event which costs thousands to manage, apparently.

A link to a map on the police site showing the route they are taking would have been of use or a list of the roads with a rough timetable As the charity wound up in 2013 I don't know if anyone is producing an official route plan. It usually starts at 11am and goes from New Brighton to Thornton Hough via West Kirby,Hoylake,Heswall - Chester High Road, then through to Thornton Hough and then to Clatterbridge roundabout/hospital.

Thanks for that Salmon, I was lead to believe all the old organisers had quit through lack of funds etc. I'm glad to see they kept going. Sadly, I no longer ride.

Hope she has a good and safe ride. I would say I would look out for her but that would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack
