I've only just spotted this new topic, but it comes at just the right moment.

I've just had a phone call from a young girl, thanking me for finding her mobile phone and handing it in. It was a Blackberry, so not one of your cheap ones, but that didn't matter. I just went only slightly out of my way to hand it in at the police station and I agreed to leaving a contact number.
I'm glad she got it back and took the trouble to call me.

Yes, I feel good.

Performing a perceived good deed for another human being because it makes you feel good is not true altruism,it is merely self indulgence.I'm not knocking it,but please don't get the two things confused.

I wasn't handing in lost property because it make me feel good, but because it was the right thing to do.

Being recognised with a thank you was not necessary, but that made me feel good.

I am not confused.

I expect most of the other posts were not confused either.

Ludwigvan, did your post make you feel good, too?

I wasn't part of the following story but, just before Christmas my friend had gone shopping in Liverpool on a rainy day. She'd bought a load of MAC make up as presents for her daughter. Anyway, while she was walking around Primark she noticed that due to the rain, the paper bag in which the make up was, had become sodden and all the make up had fallen out frown She went to one of the assistants to ask if anyone had handed it in, only to be told that no-one had. The next day, she rang Primark again on the off chance to ask again just in case, and lo & behold someone had found them on the floor of the shop and handed them in. My friend and her MAC make up were reunited smile Whoever found them could easily have pocketed them, but instead a Christmas miracle happened and all was well on christmas day for my friends daughter.

PS I like this topic, it does make me feel good amongst all the sh*te we read of going on in this world

My son lost his Blackberry my daughter rang his number-I don't know for sure but probably a bit defensive/ stroppy and left a voicemail:

"Whoever has this phone, ring me now and we will come and get it".

Anyway, two minutes later a lifeguard from Europa Pools rang back with instruction of where to find him-and the lost Blackberry. smile

Don't want to ruin your street cred Razzi but that was a heartwarming thing to do.Best I've done lately was to go into my mates plot while he was stuck away in the snow and break the ice for his chickens and give them grain to eat.
