Need a newer Car than 98/R, good MPG, great cond.
Anyone recommend anything? I'm not looking for something brand new, just something just slightly newer, want something that looks half decent when kept standard.
Good balance of MPG and Performance is needed really, don't want something too slow, but it doesnt need to be as fast as my 130(+?) bhp Escort Si

Honda Civic 1.6 SOHC/DOHC Coupe, reliable up and coming tuners cars.
My mate is selling V Reg red 1.6 VTI Coupe, 160BHP for £4,200.

Sounds difficult to insure for an 18 year old though My car is only group 10, wish i could afford a totally standard Focus lol. 1.8 Zetec is group 7/8 i think. Slower than my current car though, but im just looking for something standard these days.

Astra 1.6? Not inspirational to drive but a decent ride and loads available.
Coupe's should start coming down in price as they end production.

My mate has a 54 plate one of these and it cost him £7500, brand new from vauxhalls, decent price really.
I don't have that much money though, so unfortunately thats out of the question lol.
They are nice cars, i'd probably want either a 1.4 or 1.6
Not sure what sort of price they go for.
I wish someone would do a swap for mine lol. Just want a std car now.

I dont think you will find anyone willing to do a straight swap as escorts are really common and aint worth loads in comparison.
I think an S Reg astra will probs start at about £2.5k?

I think an escort would go for only about £1500 in real good condition.
On parkers an S/Reg Astra with 60,000 miles in good condition is listed as 1965 in good condition.
The escort listing is listed as £1785 for an R Reg 1.8 Si with 60k. I dont know how much each fetch in the real world though, as parkers always seems a bit too high to me,

306 1.9td?
My bro's got a 98R Saloon model. It's quick enough, it runs ninety-something bhp as standard, and can be tuned to 120+bhp just by tweaking the turbo! An induction kit also does great. IMO looks fantastic as standard. Reliable and cheap to run - only group 5 insurance, and 50+mpg.
Look around, my bro payed £1800 for his in near mint condition with 96k on the clock.
