Britain expecting freezing temperatures on Bonfire night



Halloween might have been toasty, but this Bonfire night you’ll want to bag yourself a spot nice and close to the fire.

Wait, no, that sounds dangerous. Just remember to wrap up warm because the Met Office say temperatures will drop below zero in many parts of country, with the Scottish highlands expected to experience -7C temperatures as the night draws on.

Britain is expected to see a clear skies and comfortable temperatures tomorrow during the day, however at night the clear skies will cause the mercury to plummet as thousands of Britons are expected to be enjoying the fireworks during Guy Fawkes night.

The freezing temperature will be a massive contrast to the warmest ever Halloween the UK experienced last week.

Patchy fog is likely to form during Wednesday evening and the first part of the night, with smoke from bonfires potentially increasing the risk of visibility falling below 100 metres in some places for a time, before increasing cloud and wind helps to clear any dense fog later in the night.

Road users should be aware of the risk of localised and sudden deteriorations in visibility.
A ridge of high pressure will affect much of the UK during Wednesday evening and first part of the night, with clearing skies allowing a sharp fall in temperature and the development of patchy fog and even some freezing fog. Smoke from bonfires will also become trapped near the ground increasing the risk of localised poor visibility and increasing the risk of fog development particularly on low lying ground.

The fog risk will increase further east across England later in the night and the requirement for further warnings will be kept under review.
