Those who dashed out to get an iPhone 6 last week might want to take extra care following reports of them bending.

The problem, dubbed ‘#bendgate’ on Twitter, has been identified by some users who left their new Apple smartphones in their pockets for extended periods of time.

The flaw is believed to be due to the gadget’s aluminium alloy frame as well as it being a thinner than usual model. It has so far only been seen in the iPhone 6+ – a larger version of the iPhone 6.

The phone, which launched on Friday, is on sale for £619 in the UK.

With phones getting thinner and thinner this was going to catch some one out. The reports are for Iphone 6 Plus at the moment. I would not be happy spending +£600 and not to stay in shape.

It's Apple policy - release new! shiny! iThing and let the iSheeple pay 600 quid+ for the pleasure of beta testing it.

Seriously, anyone stupid enough to pay 600 quid for a phone deserves everything they get. You're going to replace it in a couple years anyway, so why spend that much?

The new 2014 Moto G is a quarter of the price, does everything the iFraud 6 will, and it won't bend like a banana while sitting in your pocket.

seems as though the metal casing on the 6 plus is to blame, the plastic samsung fares slightly better

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I am due for an upgrade myself but as with all new tech, it's best to hold back until what public opinion is.

Unless you have a good phone case for these things the screen cracks or they get bent out of shape in people's packets.

As for the price tag, if get it on contract it can be picked up for a lot less than £600.

I have updated my iPad to ios8 and there is a few bugs with the apps most of them need updating.

The 5s was and still is a more solid handset.

Indeed, and it's $99 on the Apple US website right now:

http://www.apple.com/iphone-5s/specs/

Assuming that price makes it over here eventually and they don't screw UK consumers over on the exchange rate, that's a steal.

Much better value than 600 quid for the iThing 6.

Incorrect.

£40.99 per month for 24 months
£99 for phone.

In the long run it works out at £1082.76
