The new homepage had me checking out my power-weight ratio and my desired ratio,as it works in lbs tho and not KGs its a bit wierd, first i had to enter my power, easy, then comes the hard part, what does an escort weigh in lbs, converted it using my phone,1365KG (escort book kerbweight inc fuel and driver) is 3009lbs,thats 3 tonnes.that means my car has less than 30BHP per tonne, this is correct, but actual BHP per ton,is done in metric tons. Think the power to weight convertor needs changing,ATM its a bit useless TBH.My car actually has 65.93 BHP per ton.Wonder how much i can raise that just by stripping it to death (which i may do in the summer) Whats your power to weight ratio.Your kerbweight can be found out using this site. And to convert it use your calculator and type in (power)/Weight in tons. IE 90(BHP)divided by 1.365 ton(1365 KGs)

Or spend £3 down wallasey dock road and get your car weight'd
Curb weight is NEVER right, think off the shit such as mud etc stuck to the car and drivers weights vary alot

Scoop look at the top right?
On the home page under the MMC Snap Shot there is a converter?
Kg to lb
Work that out and you can use the power to weight.

why don't you have a go at writing a correct online calculator for use on the CW website?
Shouldn't be to hard if you know the actual calculation, seems fairly simple coding techniques.

I will look into it as soon as i can, and hopefully get it sorted. If you can explain the correct conversions then i can adjust them.. and we can get it sorted. Weight to ratio = Weight / BHP * 1000 = BHP Per Tonne As there are 1000 lb's in a Tonne. Scoop are you sure that your car weight is 3 tonne? As scooby's subaru was just under 2 tonne? ------------------------------ The more i read it the more confused you have got me? Any help anyone, as it would be good to get it right.

the version on the cw page seemed pretty correct when i tried it.
Instead of being BHP @ the wheels, it should say, BHP @the Fly wheel i think, but the calculation seems to be correct.
My weight is 1200 and my BHP is 130 which is about 109BHP/Tonne

Quite possibley, but the normal conversion is at the wheel on simular conversion sites.
Your weight and scoops weight have to be simular, just off body size (cars peeps cars).
Try the same but at the wheels for me AX not at the fly and see if its a million miles out?
Back later - going out.

my BHP at the wheel is 108, my weight is 1200 my BHP/Tonne is 90. which is BHP/Weight * 1000kg
The calculation is correct, but is the calculation of BHP measured from the wheel or the fly wheel?
the weight of the escort seems to hover around the 1100kg mark.

actually i see where scoop is coming from now.
My car weighs 1200kg
I put 1200kg in to the kg to lbs converter and it gives a result of 2645.5471464lb (which is correct)
I put the lb value in to the BHP/Tonne converter and it gives the following result:
Your Power:Weight Ratio is 1 : 24.5 Or 41 BHP per ton
The BHP/Tonne converter has been setup to measure in KG rather than lbs.
If i put 1200 in to the converter, which is my weight in KG rather than lbs is gives a result of 90 BHP/Tonne @ the wheel (which is correct)

The correct forumla for finging our BHP/Tonne using lbs is
BHP/weight in lbs * 2204.622622
At the moment you are using the formula to work our the BHP/Tonne using KGs

I done a google search on Power to weight Ratio, and the formular seems to be BHP/Weight * 1000 When i looked up ton - tonne and the rest. 1000kg = 1 tonne or 1000lbs = 1 tonne ------------- I confused even more now. Can anyone shed any light... ------------ Ax you reckon that if i * by 2204.622622 should work?
