This may sound like a really numpty question but I'm not very technically minded. I have a Sky box downstairs and a TV in my bedroom and the cable runs from where it enter the house, along the living room, under the LR door, around the door surround to the other side where it goes up the stairs and into the bedroom. Since I had my little fire and everywhere had to be repainted I pulled up the cable to get at the skirting boards. Before retacking the wire in the same way I was wondering if there was a simpler and less noticeable way to get the same result. There's no point moving the Sky box upstairs as I'd like a new TV in the living room when finances allow. Don't need to be able to watch different channels on each TV. I feel as though I'm giving Sky too much money as it is so don't want to pay them for a second box. Does anyone have any ideas for a reasonably cheap solution as I only work three days a week or is it better to just put it back the way it was and live with the unsightly wires up the stairs and around the doors? Many thanks.

My brother had/has a wireless TV/Video sender, worked on Sky as well, I don't know much about them, worth a google though, I never heard any complaints from him.

Thanks Bert, I've just checked on Maplin for wireless TV/Video senders and there seem to be a huge difference in prices, approx £40 - £240. I didn't want to spend more than £50-£70 at most but it might be worth going in there to ask their advice. Anyone else had any experience with them?

If you want to save money, why not drop Sky and use Freesat instead?

Depending on what you watch on sky and if you have broadband I've been told that NOW TV boxes are/were in Argos at £12 either for the Entertainment or Films packages with 4 months free viewing - then £5 a month thereafter for the Entertainment - not sure how much for the films

Get your self a magic eye for around £7 plug it in to your box and 1 single cable to your tv up stairs and you can use the box downstairs.

As above. You can use a single coax cable from the sky box. In the bedroom connect a Migic eye. You may have to change a setting on the sky box. Magic eyes don't work through a booster.
I went to freesat as the channels on sky became boring. Paid for its self in 9 months. Series link, record pause etc.
Lots of options. You use the existing sky cable for free sat. A little more akward to view from the box up stairs but can be done or buy a HD Freeview + Box If you check I think the models with + means they can record.
Lots of other boxes with an internet connection can get you 12345 catch up tv.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I already have a magic eye to use the remote in the upstairs TV as the box is downstairs but looks like I'll still need the coaxial cable running upstairs. I've had a look at Freesat but it seems limited with the amount of entertainment channels compared to Sky. I' think I'm a bit spoilt at the moment when I look at the menu I get everything other than the sports and films other than Film 4. I'll have a good look at the other options mentioned and try and figure something out. Thanks again.

Have you considered freesat from Sky? As an existing customer it should only cost £25 one off. From this site; http://www.sky.com/shop/freesat/home/faq/#4 I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need? All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £25. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 03448 244 400.

Uffda doesn't want a cable running around the living room, through doors, up the stairs, along the landing into the bedroom. Carry the bed downstairs, now I bet somebody else wished they'd thought of that, clever aren't I

Thanks Bert, I think it might be better to move the kitchen and front door upstairs as I seem to spend all my time up there!!
