SEVERE WEATHER WARNING : Drive CarefullyThursday 29 December WEATHER WARNING Snow now spreading across Wales, western Scotland and western England, together with ice will cause a hazard on the roads. However by morning heavier snow and driving winds in Eastern England and Scotland will lead to atrocious conditions. Travellers are advised to delay their journey. Valid until 1200. Thursday 29 December EARLY WARNING A band of snow will spread eastwards across the UK today and tomorrow. The snow is will be heaviest and most persistent as it crosses central and eastern parts tomorrow. Several hours of snow are expected here along with driving winds. People are advised to check latest forecasts and be prepared Further updates will appear here. ======================================================================== Driving Advice :Make sure you know what to do - Before snow or ice
If you have to make a journey when snow is forecast, make sure you have warm clothes, food, water, boots, a torch and spade, and let someone know when you expect to arrive and your route. Try to wait until the roads have been gritted before travelling Put grit or cat litter on paths and driveways to lessen the risk of slipping on compacted snow Check on vulnerable neighbours
- During snow or ice
Avoid travel if possible If you must drive check the Highway Code for advice on driving in ice and snowy weather. A summary of the advice is: Take care around gritters. Don't be tempted to overtake. Slow down — it can take 10 times longer to stop in snowy or icy conditions, so allow extra room. Use the highest gear possible to avoid wheel spin. Manoeuvre gently and avoid harsh braking and acceleration. If you start to skid, gently ease off the accelerator and avoid braking. If braking is necessary, pump the brakes don't slam them on. If you get stuck, stay with your car and tie something brightly coloured to your aerial If you go outside wear several layers of clothing and keep dry to prevent loss of body heat. Watch out for signs of hypothermia — uncontrollable shivering, slow/slurred speech, memory lapse and drowsiness and frostbite — loss of feeling in and pale appearance of fingers, toes, nose and ear lobes. Keep moving your arms and legs to help the blood circulate
- After snow and ice
Be careful when walking or driving on compacted snow — it may have turned to ice Take care when shovelling snow. Cold air makes it harder to work and breathe, which adds some extra strain on the body and can be the cause of heart attacks in the vulnerable
========================================================================= On a personal note, i travelled from Wolverhampton last night and to Manchester Airport this morning at -7 degrees This caused various problems, Firstly my windscreen washers froze up therefore visability was very poor, All the wagons flicking up the shite of the road onto my windscreen and then my wipers simply smearing all the crap all over the windscreen and i couldnt see jack.... Secondly the ICE was dangerous as it comes, Black ice therefore you could not see it coming until you start sliding everywhere.... Not good at all Drive Carefully peeps

Drive safe,u may think u know the limits of your car but in the snow,u dont know shit! even if the roads seem clear go a lot slower than usual as there may be patches of black ice and stuff.
Good advice: Do not wash cars at the side of the road, that puts large quantities of water on the road which WILL freeze,if you wash your car do it at a garage or on a driveway(maybe the water will flow to the road anyway)this is bad

Best part was after 11:00pm when the pubs emptied, watching them staggering people fall flat on there faces, probably thinking its just the fresh air hit them
