They emerged one by one from a hole, three metres underground. They were carried up into the sunshine and the fresh air for what may have been the first time in their lives. These dogs should never have been here – the person responsible for their care had already been banned for owning animals after previous cruelty charges. But that didn’t stop her from running a puppy factory – it just made her more careful about hiding it.
She has now been convicted again for animal cruelty, thanks to the RSPCA WA who also seized all of the animals in her ‘care’. No more dogs will suffer in this ‘dungeon’ – in total darkness, and without fresh air (

But until she was caught, the puppies born here were being sold in pet shops and online – and those who purchased them were unwittingly lining the pockets of a convicted animal abuser. While the law finally caught up to this one puppy factory owner – countless puppy factories across Australia continue to operate without repercussions. The deprivation and suffering within their walls is often completely legal.
