Hi, noticed that my 3rd brake light(higher) doesnt seem to work, I know these dont take bulbs and are a single unit to replace. Is there a way to test it to see if it's something else causing it? or is it worth just getting one from the scrappy(how much?) and do they test them before they sell them to you to make sure that it works? take third brake light off, connect it to your battery, if it works then light is not your problem, if it does not work, then its faulty, take it apart and see what you can do with it, if its totally goosed, get another from scrap yard, connect it to a 12volt battery in scrap yard to test it before you pay.

You ask how much from a scrappy, each scrap yard make up there own prices.

There is no legal requirement for a third brake light, so search on line for a cheap one, as there is no rush

Try Renault themselves, you may be surprised how cheap a new one is.

Easiest way, unscrew 3rd brake light unit from car, unplug the wire from unit.

Now put a multimeter or test lamp into the plug you unplugged from unit.

Get some one or something heavy to push the brake pedal down with ignition on, if test bulb lights up or multimeter shows current, then the power supply is fine.

that would be the best way to do it.

You dont need it for MOT as long as its taped over . As long as the side brake lights are working Mr Plod shouldnt stop you.

spoiler mounted one? plenty of them in breakers, be surprised if you have to pay more then a tenner for one. got to lift the spoiler to unplug it.

am thinking about the sport, not sure where it plugs in on the normal one?

yeh mate, went to scrapy and took one of another car and put it on mine and that one didnt work, hoping it was just a faulty one as they didnt have any others. Hoping its not the wiring.

Put your tongue on the wires grin only joking, I could rig you one up, and drop it of for you if that's any good to you.

check the terminals on the rear lights, can't remember what side it feeds from?

prone for corrosion on the plugs.
