Only 3 out of 10'people can be bothered to vote! People genuinely don't care!... I do. Added my name to the list https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/page/s/real-recall#petition

100k signatures just means they discuss it not act on it so they could just say "silly online petition" and move on.

True Demo, but if we don't try then we wont get anywhere, they are all on panic mode now because of UKIP, people in other countries are willing to take action on the streets the least we can do is sign a petition.

The petition doesn't really make it clear enough :
The petition text: Dear David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband
It’s time for a real recall bill.
We call on you to support a recall bill that puts the power in voters hands, so that if, in between general elections, enough voters were dissatisfied enough with their MP to petition for a by-election, they could." ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ==== ==== I don't think it is well phrased and could lead to a great deal of unrest in many ways. Much of it being due to individuals political view point, personal likes and dislikes. It is also a move that could also be open to corruption, at the highest levels.
Having said that, there are cases where MP's should be binned for various offences, and those such a Peter Mandelson, commonly know as the 'come back kid' should not be allowed back into politics again, once they have committed an unsavoury or wrongful act and forced to resign. Of course, as in his case, if they resign before being sacked it would seem it was in order to return, depending on which bent leader was on the big seat at the time. Needless to say, once they disappear from view on this side of the English Channel, they nearly always get parachuted into Europe onto a higher level. Out of sight out of mind.
Maybe, if MP's are brought to the attention of the public for offences, then that would be the point when petitions would be best used. Bringing a particular 'case' to the fore with pressure for dismissal. That could then be a national response, rather than a more local one.
Just a thought.

Something does need to be done, I take on board some of your comments granny, but the merry go round needs to be stopped, the thieves and the disgraced just return to the Westminster gravy train, the same old same old, we need to start somewhere without the interference of the old boys club, I see Neil Hamilton is sneaking back in via UKIP, at the very least those that lose their positions through dishonesty should be barred from holding any form of public office locally or nationally.

Apparently those MEP's who lost their seats each get a golden handshake of as much as £157,000. Why? They didn't come up to scratch, otherwise they would have kept their jobs. It's our money that they are being allowed to trouser. They've been paid handsomely these past five years isn't that enough?

Bill in Queens Speech today:
Recall of MPs Bill (UK-wide)
Voters will be able to trigger a by-election where an MP has committed serious wrongdoing and 10% of their registered constituents have signed a petition over an eight-week period. The "recall" process would be triggered if an MP is convicted of an offence and receives a custodial sentence of less than 12 months and when the Commons agrees to such a process.

The petition has reached a total of a hundred and seventy thousand signatures and is being supported by twenty MPs, thank you, and well done to those that participated.
