Monks ferry proposed closure to public, as lairds want to build on the car park site.....please sign the petition. https://www.facebook.com/savemonksferry

the effects on all boat angling from wirral would be affected, with closure of some boats businesses.....this slipway is accessible at all states of the tide.....and has been there well before lairds............700 years of history

Save Monks Ferry Car Park, Wirral
We would like to save the historic site - Monks Ferry Car Park in Birkenhead

Not just boats, the cross river swim finishes here:

Cross River Swim

Lairds have plenty of waste and unused land on their site which would be far more suitable.

Their application is full of lies and mistruths, claiming the slipway is unused when it isn't, or that the car park is often empty - they don't say when they checked this, it often is on a weekday, but not at weekends.

There's also claims about crime in this area. Erm, how about getting the police to act on it then?

And then there's the jobs claim. "Could create" not "will create" and "up-to 45 jobs" - no definite figures and could mean anything from 1 to 45.

Here's the application link:

http://www.wirral.gov.uk/planning/D...t.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=93184

But sadly the consultation period has now closed.

Same here, I think it was a little too late and lacking substance in its argument.

There was a good report on the local news last night though.
