Did anyone see this?
It is the first time I have heard of this possible reason for meningitis and maybe needs to be brought to our attention some more.

Thankfully the little girl is now 3years old and fit and healthy.Doctors say this is very rare.My Brother who is now 61 years old Got this too. as a 2 year old and was extremely ill and had the last rites He was in The Childrens Hospital Birkenhead for many Weeks. My Mum was devastated but always said it was from a scratch, by a neighbours cat.She was always Very particular about us being clean as she had been a nurse prior to getting married. She became even more so afterwards. If my mum was alive now she would say I told you it was from that flaming Cat.

Cats poo also extremely bad for children if they happen to touch it or play in areas where cats poo. Dam nuisance cats, poo in everyone's gardens, digging up the plants in the process, owners just let them roam and cause problems for everyone else, dont give a dam what the do and they also kill the birds for nothing other than exercise, they are a pain in the bum cats.

I hate the dam things.

Let's keep this in proportion:
“The doctors said she was only the 39th person in the world known to picked up that particular strain of meningitis.” (sic)
If that is correct then the chances of this happening to anyone else are about as close as you can get to zero.
Surely one of the last things we need is to give certain 'already cruel' people a new excuse for harming cats..?

I hate dogs, people let their dogs poo where kids play, ok some pick the poo up, but the grass still has poo on it. Then mums bring their babies/kids to play on the grass!. We all know dog poo can cause blindness and other stuff. At the very least, your kids will go home smelling of poo.
How would you like it if I got the grass your dog poo`d on and stuck it in your mouth?
Don't take your dogs or cats! to where kids play, picking it up may look nicer but the germs are now on the grass/ground.

That is 39 people too many, obviously none of them were related to you. I wonder what your attitude would have been if it had been your baby.

Personally I am more concerned about the filthy habit of spitting. Santos is correct though, one is too many if you are the parent.

Of course it's 39 people too many. That was never my point. The point was the chances of it happening to anyone ELSE are almost ZERO.

The other point was not to give certain pre-disposed people any fresh excuse to harm or hate animals (cats in this case).

The fact remains that 39 occurrences of anything, ever, in the whole World, is just about as rare as can be - and certainly should not give anyone ANY cause to be scared of cats!

People do still need to observe normal hygiene around any animals, obviously.

Dear zipper club
It ain't the dog who's at fault
With pooh and fighting attacking biting
It falls to the owner to sort out bad behaviour or clear it up
Its natural to squat down and pooh for a dog
Blame the owner !! Not the dog
Humans are the dirtiest filthy disease spreading mammal on the planet
Look at the crap we throw away and waste

What a sweeping statement Zippy, when you obviously see humans are to blame? What about guide dogs, sniffer dogs, sheepdogs, hearing dogs , companion to lonely elderly dogs, medical assistance dogs etc etc? Dont you mean you hate dog poo lol!

We all know this illness is of a very serious nature with so many different types.

Without wanting to cause alarm, I think this site is very informative, and worth studying. If this illness is suspected, I suggest you go to hospital, not your doctor. Speed is of the greatest importance. If you scroll down the left side you can apply for a free info pack.
