F1 British Grand Prix 2006

If you have never been to a Grand Prix before or down to Silverstone
then my review may just get you thinking..

Tickets are easy to buy on the tinter net just visit Silverstone.co.uk
We paid £100 each + £15 parking. (Race day).
Our tickets were for the 3 days.
Practice – Qualifying – Race Day.

The whole day is amazing, believe me,
I can only tell you about the Race Day,
And what a day it was.
Yeh it sounds a lot for a ticket but the atmosphere and
the crowds the shows the money it soon seems like you
have a barging ticket.
We bought the Cheapest ticket (Bronze) but they did go up
to £300 + for grandstands etc.. And we honestly thought we
had the best seats which were better than the Grandstand seats.
We were sitting on the bank which weren’t steep so we didn’t have
to dig our heels in to stay put, between Becketts and Chapel.
It’s the courners that the commentators always say if you get
the chance go to Beecketts and just watch how those cars stick
to the track. I will tell you the speeds a little further in this post.

The Teams, wow…
walking up to Becketts the money that had been ploughed in
to there promotion stands was just silly. Nothing short of
just a amazing. Toyota Mercedes ect..
Obviously there merchandise on the day was expensive but I
had come across this at Autosport. £40 for a Cap or £85 for
a Short Sleeve Shirt.. So they could make a nice packet
from you if you so wished.

So how do you get to this place then?
Straight down the M6 and wait until the sign pops up “Silverstone”
and follow the signs. It takes about 3hrs with a pee stop. We had
park and ride tickets and it was great. As this was part of the
build up as we could hear stories from the qualifying the day before
and as we passed the cars in the que’s some nice motors and you could
smell there money and you just knew they were either inside track or
main grand stand. But a short walk from the drop point (5mins) which
was actually closer than the car park tickets. And then were in at 9am
and the place was heaving and jumping the sun was shining and the first
race of the day was already on the go. F3 and that was an instant smile
as we heard the engines RAW past and they were loud. And by the sound of it FAST !

Where we decided to park our arses only happened to be the opposite
side of where the main entrance was. I guess with out realising it
was a bout a mile walk, but there was like I mentioned above that
much going on we were there before we knew it.
The crowd around us was amazing, I’m guessing hard core.
Air horn city I decide to call it but it added to the atmosphere.

So lets show you some pics and rant on a little more that’s if your not asleep yet.

This is the Marshalls awaiting the parade lap of the F1 Drivers.
As you can see we weren’t that far away.

This picture has a little zoom on it but you can see our very own Jenson Button.
With team mate Rubance. Riding in classic cars.
[Linked Image]

Shue and Massa – lets say the crowd went mental and the air horns were deafening.
[Linked Image]

Kimi and Montoya
[Linked Image]

Ralf S and Trulli – Toyota
[Linked Image]

Alonso and Fizzy
[Linked Image]

So off they went to continue the parade lap and then a Red Arrow display
which was amazing, we had to have been in the best place, they were
right above us and the poor people in the grandstand had to come
Out to see the show lol..
[Linked Image]

I had loads more of Red Arrow pics but I know you would have been board.
Last one as they fly away.

And Now were minuets away from the start of the race as the cars
make there way to the start. And fortunately we had a massive TV
Screen in front of us, and we could tune into Silverstone
FM 87.7fm for all the commentary.
[Linked Image]

And there off !!
They are off as 3 cars get caught up in an incident right in
front of us on the first lap quality, I think we have just
see the best part of a million pound in pieces.
Drivers didn’t seem that bothered…
[Linked Image]

Now there following the safety car as the wreckage is cleared off the track.

[Linked Image]

Come on mate give us a hand..
[Linked Image]

The cars are coming around again
[Linked Image]

O there’s the other wrecked BMW (Mark Webber).
[Linked Image]

Were racing again,
Alonso, kimi, shuey.

I moved along towards the final bend and Hanger Straight.
You wouldn’t believe how loud the cars are now,
as you can be yards from the track.
Kimi

This was the view from the bridge part of the way down hanger straight,
And also the quietest part of the track for seating.
There were refreshments and food all the way around the track.
[Linked Image]

Back to our seats Meet the crowd to the right.
[Linked Image]

Meet the crowd to the left.
[Linked Image]

Couthard at the back
[Linked Image]

Alonso at lap of honour and winner.
[Linked Image]

And Shuey thanking the fans with a fantastic second place.
[Linked Image]

At one point I said the price we paid for the tickets was a bargin,
As the atmosphere and the whole day was amazing.
Well worth it..

After the race we headed back, there was another race to come
but we had been up since 4:30am and keen to get back and watch
it all again on the telly.
It was strange to think that we had been inside Silverstone
for 5hrs and it had flown by in what seemed like 30mins,
it was none stop action from start to finish.

Leaving wasn’t too bad as the park and ride gave us a chance
to rest before the drive home.

Would I go again? YES
Am I hooked Probably loved it.
Would I recommend it errr YES most certainly.

I hope the above helps you decide if you fancy a day at Silverstone for
A grand prix or a track day or any kind of a race.
Silverstone for me was amazing.

Not allot i could possibly add to that omg

Thats 3 times the redline of your car eek

You have to be there to appreciate what i am saying about the noise and atmosphere. I would have paid £100 just to sit behind the grandstand and listen to them, i guess watching them was just a bonus.

You just get a big Cheesy grin when you hear the roar coming.....

woops forgot to say the speed through Becketts.
Its the S Bend and its tighter than it looks.
They are almost like right angles.

imagine --

80mph yes

138mph around bends so tight.
And they reach 4G's in the car left to right.

all my family, dad, uncle cousin an their mates went 4 a stagg weekend there, they left thu' mornin n got back on mon' mornin all tan tastic cause the weather was gawjuss. They had gold tickets tho so on the fridee and satdee they could walk around the corse n go in the centre n walk around the teams trucks n wagons etc. which was apparently interestin lol. they watched the practice, the qualifiers an the actual race. They go every year an insit on me looking at every single pic they have, mainly of all them posin with the fosters girls. Oh an they had a loada pix of status quo (sp) who they watched haha! They've tried to get everyone there but im not the kinda girl who loves campin haha! but apparently its loads better when you're actually there rather then watchin it on the tely.
