Does anyone know who the animated guitarist character in the Wonga.com advert, is meant to be ? One of the old masters I'm sure, but cannot remember which.

Thanks Walley. Not what I thought though.

I had Charlie Byrd in my head who did in fact play with Django Reinhart in Paris. Byrd was quite influenced by him.

Brilliant guitar on that ad.

Byrd reminded me of Birdland by Manhattan Transfer, one of my favourite groups.

Ahhh! Manhattan Transfer. They were good, and it's so easy to forget all those wonderful bands from back in the 'good old days' . They were pretty good times weren't they?

So is this guy. Charlie Byrd......have a look at 5.00mins plus, if you don't want to watch it all. His guitar is as if it's part of him. Love him, he's another I was brought up on from the age of about 12yrs.

A brilliant musician Granny but doesn't really rock my boat.

The saxophone is my favourite instrument (very good for making the housework less boring - as long as next door are out!).

Tremendous, Granny; one of my favourite guitarists, heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt, (but with a couple of extra functioning fingers).
