Hello all. Looking for mobile mechanic to sort my car out please. Have a pug 306 hdi, started cutting out on my whilst driving. AA traced fault to the rear fuel pump, bought a new Siemens pump, replaced old with new, now the flipping car wont fire up. Can get it towed to a garage but hoping someone out there could help me out. Thanks in advance!

Can you hear the pump priming when you turn on the ignition? Double check all the connections on the pump, it's a really simple but common problem on the HDi's but once the pumps changed and primed it should go. You haven't by any chance changed the fuel filter have you? If the in-tank pump fails it leaves gold filings in the filter housing that if you don't clean it out properly when changing the filter get sucked through and cause all manners of havoc.

Hi, I do diagnostics on Peugeots.
What year is your car and what mileage?
There's a known issue with the fuel pump sticking on certain diesel 306s, which sounds like what's happened to you.
It sounds like there's an airlock in the system, I'd recommend just turning it over until all the air has gone through, unless you have the hand priming bulb - then prime it until its rock hard, but it may take a while and might need a second battery to swap over onto if you flatten yours.
And when you've got it running change the fuel filter.

If your handy yourself go over to www.306oc.co.uk there's a whole section on the DW10 HDi and a lot of info on fuelling problem the amount of money I've saved doing my own repairs since I've been a member on there is massive. Anything 306 related that's where you need to go.

The HDi's don't have a hand priming pump, you just need to turn ignition on wait for pump to prime, turn it off, repeat another two or three times, then start.
