Since 9.45am this morning Saturday 14th September I and others on my road have been without water. The United Utilities website states CH44/45 and 46 are affected. Is there a leak in the area somewhere? How long will it last?

Update @ 12:15 - Our team of engineers has finished repairing the technical fault in the area. The water pressure in our mains will now begin to build and the water will shortly be flowing normally again through your taps. We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.
Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little discoloured.

yeh we had issues too i looked on the UU website but it had nothing when i checked... thought there might be works or something that were emergency and so hoped it'd pass, looks like it now has.

i had to have a bath instead of a shower and everything...

well it would have been nice if united utilities had told us the water was going off. I care for a severely disabled person , How on earth are people supposed to cope and not only that because I didn't know and switch my shower off ,the settings on the shower have gone and now I have to wait till Wednesday for it to be sorted . We pay more every year for the water and every year the service is more shoddy, United Utilities are a disgrace

I honestly can not see how they could of known it was going to go off, they can not see in to the future, do you honestly think they can see in to the future and can say on Saturday 14th September a technical fault will occur so we better warn our customers.

How do you expect them to know when a fault is going to happen.

It was an electrical fault which caused the pumps to stop according to the news yesterday.

Then they should have a system for the most vulnerable people to make provision for them ,we pay enough and perhaps Santos if you had to actually see to the personal needs of someone with a severe disability it might help to curb that very sarcastic nasty tongue of yours

I don't see why you should have a go at Santos; he was only agreeing with a previous poster.

Could you tell me what system they could possibly put in place, for this. I can not think of any company that can offer a fault free service.

short of racing tankers to every home that has a elderly or disabled person in, when a tech fault occurs with the water, there is nothing that can be done. And am sure 2 hours of no water would not of been a great hardship, am not having a go am just curious to know what you think could be done.

Mine was off for more than 2 hours and as for not being any great hardship ,it was extremely difficult for reasons I will not go into. As for a solution ,I think its up to United Utilities to come up with something to reduce the hardship that can be caused when the water supply is cut off for several hours as we do pay for a service. as for having a go at Santos .he wasn't just agreeing with the previous poster he was extremely cutting in his response As you are all great fans of United Utilities and think its ok to be sarcastic about a difficulty re lack of water I will leave you all to your own devices

Santos wrote nothing; he just used the smiley withthat

I'm no fan of UU, I have no opinion of them since my water is supplied by Severn Trent, but I do think it's unfair to blame them if, as suggested, it was an electrical fault which may have been beyond their control.

On another forum, I read that the juice was switched off/disconnected to the pumps by a contractor working for UU. "IF" that is the case, it is not beyond the wit of man (or UU) for a "Mains Failed" lamp to come up in a plush control room somewhere. I'm sure it wouldn't take 2hrs for someone to re-set a breaker/trip/whatever.

You pay through the nose for a supply of wet stuff out of your tap. You should expect a decent reaction when something goes wrong, irrespective of who is to blame.

Smiles smugly as my PURE SPRING WATER comes from the hill above the house - and costs nowt! grin (Everyone loves a smart arse - I know!)

1. What did Santos do? I read this thread a few times, didn't see him post anything sarcastic.

2. What can possibly be done for the vulnerable people of society? I appreciate the theory behind it, but putting it into practice would be practically impossible.

3. It's not the tongue Santos was using anyway, it was their fingers as they used a keyboard and mouse.
