My elderly neighbour has finally had to permanently go to a care home and is looking for a new home for her dog. Bailey is an eight year old cross labrador with a fabulous personality. He loves to be cuddled and hasn't met a person he doesn't love. Unfortunately he not so good with other animals or children but this is due to his fear and inability to deal with the situation rather than just meanness. Please let me know if you can help.
Does he get along with other dogs, and what he like with cats?He is a lovely looking dog and looks like he has been well cared for.Could i meet him if interested?

Hi have you tried Merseyside mutts or Wirral animals looking for good homes, they are both on facebook. If someone does offer a home, please could someone do a home check . Some free to good home dogs can end up as bait for dog fights .They do look for free to good home animals ads ,,some even send their wives or girlfriends to enquire about the dog. hope you get the right place for him
Thanks Jerdubig, I'll certainly take a look at those sites. Yes a home visit will be a must. I love Bailey too and would have him with me but my cats wouldn't be happy, so want him to go to the best home possible as he has such a great personality.
Hope you find a nice home for him.unfortunately i have a GSD and a cat.{ignore the trolling comment above}I honestly didn t read it right as i was tired from a hard days work.Keep us updated.I will do my best to see if anyone can offer him a good home. Also i will pm you now on a link.
Thanks Guitarlad, I appreciate your help. I'm desperate to find him a good home as he's such a softie and would be perfect for the right person. Unfortunately he has no other option as he will be homeless when his owner's house is sold. She doesn't have any family to take responsibility for the dog so I'm trying my best but am only the neighbour. Will let you know how he gets on.
When I had a similar problem we put posters up in the area that my neighbour used to walk her dog.(Royden Park) As the people knew the dog and my neighbour knew them we soon had offers with the advantage that he stayed on home ground. Good luck his eyes are haunting me I wish I was in a position to take him.
you could also put pics/story up in the local vets and lets face it the only people who go the vets are animal loves so someone may fall in love with his pic
The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.
Thanks, for the advice, I need to take one of my cats to the vets for her jabs so will leave a poster there and a few other vets. I've spoken to all the local animal shelters and they are all full. I'm afraid that if I have to take him to the council pound, they'll put him down. Please can everyone ask all your friends and family who might want a dog.
Thanks Guitarlad, he's okay in his old house at the moment with me popping in four times a day. I'm just panicking because all the shelters are full. I was really surprised that the Dog's Trust or Freshfields couldn't take him. I think they might have been able to place him in a foster home but as he doesn't like other dogs so it makes things difficult
