Wirral’s parks and green spaces have once again been rated among the UK’s best. And this year sees a new name join Wirral’s list of high performing beauty spots. Victoria Park in Rock Ferry is now one of 15 parks in Wirral to receive the Green Flag Award, a sign to visitors that the park is well-maintained, well-managed and has excellent facilities. As well as the growing Green Flag list, Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm has earned a Green Flag Community Award, which recognises high quality green spaces in England and Wales that are managed by voluntary and community groups, while Birkenhead Park has retained its Green Heritage status in addition to its Green Flag. Good to hear, but Victoria Park isn't in Rock Ferry, it's in Tranmere. I walked through it four times a day to get to school at Well Lane.
Carpe diem.

I was going to say same thing chriskay, Victoria Park is Tranmere!!! Not rock ferry. I live right opposite it and my postal address is Tranmere. Going back to the green flag status I say well done to Victoria Park it is a lovely park, the recent exercise circuit is a great idea and its fab to see some "more mature" people using them..Im in the park twice a day with my dog and meet some lovely people in there.

There are also responsible dog owners who frequent the park.

Ok, help me out here. Just supposing a responsable person takes dog for a walk in the park, dog makes a mess as per usual. Owner picks up mess off the grass and sticks it in a bag and takes it home. Family come along with young baby and have a picnic on the grass. The baby plays around enjoying the sunny day out. Next day the baby has sore eyes and mum takes baby to the doctors. After a few tests they find the baby contracted toxocariasis and is almost blind. All because the grass still contained canine faeces. Removing the dog dirt does not make the grass clean again. So, would it be better to leave the dirt there so people could see where it was and move elsewhere? Or something else to stop the contamination???

Or, segregate a thin piece of the park for dogs so they don't mess up everything for everyone else. Perhaps a strip about a metre wide and a mile long. Let them run up and down it a few times.
