Wifes, 16 month old I pod has a playlist problem, when attempting to play it just "cycles" through play list not playing anything. Any ideas

Have you tried resetting your Touch? You need to hold down the circular button and the power button at the same time. This will reset your Ipod, it will reinstall your music and software library; Can take a while,up to an hour.

Mine did this, plug it back into iTunes and sync. Should sort you out
