Dingle Community Theatre are all set to take their new play – “Bedroomed!” – on a tour of North West Venues.

The play is a comedy, looking at some of the issues raised by the “Bedroom tax”. The main character in the play faces some difficult choices in order to make ends meet after she learns that she will be affected by the new Government Benefits penalty on “spare” bedrooms.

“We decided to do the play after we saw the public concern the “Bedroom Tax” was creating,” says writer and local teacher, Tom Mclennan. “We felt that people needed to be made aware of the difficulties the “Tax” is causing.”

The play will be performed along with other sketches, poems and songs penned by local writers all with a “Bedroom Tax” theme.

well me for sure wont go to see this,reason is if it s a comedy show now, why waste time on protest?Bottom line is mate.protest for jobs to be created so the unemployed can get back to work.

Well said Frank.Cant see the point of keeping a spareroom for a dog or a cat.maybe a storeroom for booze and junk.Some arent even paying rent its the frigging taxpayer who is,Its no joke.

Whatever you call it, it is still means those that can least afford it have to pay more.
Not all the benefit claimants are unemployed, a lot are working but on either low wages or short hours. Nothing has been mentioned about this by any of the parties before now. Will your taxes be reduced because of this - I doubt it. (Maybe if you're a millionaire it will drop by another 10%)

I would suspect most of those affected wouldn't be Conservative voters so don't really matter in Tory planning.
What next - window tax for social housing tenants?

ps
I'm a pensioner, live in a council house and pay full rent, never been in a union, worked over 30 years in the same firm until made redundant when firm closed and have been a home owner

I think that if there isn't a suitable smaller home for someone who is affected, then they should not be penalised.

Just for the record, the annual housing bill, alone, is costing the nation £23billion. Back in the forties when the benefit structure was created it was created to give the very needy a lift. But I don't think it was ever intended for it to reach this level. And wait until next year when the peoples of some of those poverty stricken eastern european countries start parking their arses over here. They have got to be housed too.

Somebody mentioned the Conservatives. Even Labour have plans to change things. Everybody will need one of them to take their barrow-fulls of worthless cash to the shops, that's if there is anything left in the shops to buy.

The plan of the goverment is to turn people against each other so as it takes away there crafty schemes to line their own pockets,does any sensible thinking person' really believe the ammount of tax their paying is mostly down to the unemployed, when £5,000,000 alone was spent on Margeret Thatcher's funeral, and that's nothing compared to what's spent on futile war's that are all politically manipulated, and while were on the subject, what about well off buisiness people including MPs etc who claim tax back for arranging buisiness dinner's and much more, their the greedy ones not the ordinary people trying to have a decent life, yes I know I,m sure there are plenty of scumbags, who live off others but there are as many rich as poor, and they don't need to.
the decently paid jobs for average families these day's are few and far between, so it's a case of working ones butt off for a pittance, trying to keep up with constant rising prices, I know of nobody working or otherwise, who have money to spare by the time they've paid their dues, or the other option is to go on state benefit's, which for some are better off, but most are genuine people,that arn'et exactly raking it in
