BurgerChips how reliable is that list I only ask bud as I can't see the whole city of London only having 1 pedo
Where do you get '1' from ? London is showing as 711 sex offences if Im seeing it correctly. Actually, I have to say Im quite amazed to see that this info is freely available . I thought it would only be available via authorized persons to a person who had a good reason for needing to know. Some of these have addresses with a specific road given. One of the addresses in wirral, gives a road where theres a very small number of houses,so not hard with a bit of research to pin the actual one down . Bit terrifying if you happened to move into such a property in later years and some earlier 'victim' decided to hunt their attacker down to take revenge. As we all know, revenge is best served cold.
edit - yeah, just looked , and Sarahs law implies that that is the case so Im puzzled.
the information is freely available as it's just copied and pasted from press reports.
sarahs law only applies if you think one of your children might be in contact with a known abuser, aimed at a parent to check about a new partner mainly, you can't phone the police and ask if the bloke three doors away is a convicted nonce.
i also doubt many, if any victims would mistake someone for their abuser just because that person lived in the house they were abused in.
Guitarlad I should have said all CONVICTED and PROVEN GUILTY pedo's and child molesters should be on the list.
Pedos and child molesters should be listed i do agree Elizabeth. What about there photo.do they show that on the list?
Yes they do have a photo of them along with the conviction. Very few of them say they were involved with children. I think a lot of them are flashers or maybe were charged with "deviant sexual acts" whatever that might be!
if they're convicted and proven guilty won't they be in jail?
They go on the sex offenders registry once they're out of jail. There's no sign outside the house, they're listed on a website for those who want to check if they live near an offender. The whole thing came into being when a young girl was killed by a sex offender living in her neighbourhood. Her parents petioned to have a law where the county must disclose where the sex offenders live once they've done time in jail.
This list appears to reflect Police Forces, not cities. The "City of London" is about 1 square mile in size and is the banking / financial centre only. It has its own Police force. The "Metropolitan Police" would cover the rest of London (and Greater London)... It'd be like comparing Wall St. to the whole of New York!
I can understand where Gibbo is coming from. Many years ago (back in the mid-70s in fact), my brother and his mate were out drinking one night. Anyhow, long story short, they were walking home around 11.30 p.m. when my brother realized he was bursting for a pee. It was pitch black and no one else was around so he decided to take a leak in a nearby shop doorway. Just then a police car happened along and my brother was arrested. I can still remember him panicking it would be in the Birkenhead News and it would have him down as "exposing himself" and that people would get the wrong idea and think he was some kind of "flasher". It was such a relief for him (no pun intended) when the paper reported it as "Man Caught Urinating Contrary To Public Convenience" and he was subsequently fined 25 quid.
