I have a lot of "goods" to clear on eBay.

Most of these are single items, some worth very little, others worth hundreds.

The job is for someone to list the items on eBay for sale.

I tend to buy job lots, bankrupt stock or large clearances, so there will be a variety of items (don't expect mobile phones or computers, there might be s/h parts for them but not complete units).

The job is to to meet up once or twice a week for an hour or so so you can take pictures and get the details of any items.

You will need to be able to use Google extremely well as a lot of these items have manufacturers only part numbers so you'll have to hunt to find out what they actually are.

I will set up an eBay shop for you and you will have the password for it. You will need your own computer/Internet connection.

Due to previous experience payment will only be made on completed sales once the item has been delivered and positive feedback received.

The wage will be 20% of the item selling price (excluding postage), so basically this is commission only.

Any items you take pictures of/details from will be marked up, and no further items will be permitted until at least 80% of these have been listed, this is prevent cherry picking.

I will be responsible for postage.

You can set the price at what you believe is sensible, but I reserve the right to lower it, higher it, or even cancel a purchase if I believe you have got it completely wrong or are trying to get it cheap to resell/for a friend (past experience)

This would probably suit somebody (or even a couple of people) to do in their spare/free time rather than as a full time money earner, but that's up to you.

Basic listing fees will be covered by me, if you decide to add 101 pictures, promote it to the top of all listing and add slide shows etc, this will be deducted from your commission (basic listings if done properly, work).

A template for the listings will be supplied.

Listings with inaccurate or completely wrong information are your responsibility. It's no good just making it up or guessing, as you'll get poor feedback and the items will be returned.

I remain the account holder for the eBay shop at all times. If you decide not to continue any sales on items you have listed (up to thirty days) will be made to you.

Any attempt to change password, amend templates or corrupt adverts and I reserve the right to suspend or close the eBay shop immediately.

I agree to keep you supplied with sufficient goods to list.

You will not be able to remove any goods.

Any goods listed by myself or others in the eBay shop you have access to will not generate commission for you.

It sounds like a lot of rules, and these are not complete, but basically it's just a lot of "stuff" needs listing and as long as you play fair you'll get 20% of its value for listing it, with zero outlay on your part (other than time).

Hi , I am also very interested in this job. I currently sell my own items on eBay and have done so for many years. I work from home and have a reliable high speed broadband connection. I also have "Turbo Lister" the advanced eBay selling tool and am fully proficient with it.
Hope you here from you soon.
Thanks

Pinky

Hi Dr, Like you I have a number of items to sell, but don't have the expertise to put them on Ebay myself so have been looking for a local Ebay trader who would sell on my behalf, taking a commission. If you find someone who could also help me, please let me know.

You should be careful when considering this.

Firstly, if the eBay account is in your name YOU'LL be responsible for ensuring the items are delivered. If a buyer claims any item has not been delivered and you have no proof of delivery you can have a case opened against you and have all monies refunded to the buyer.

Secondly, YOU'LL be accountable for any PayPal clawback for up to 45 days after the sale. A buyer can open a case in the resolution centre for any number of reasons and in the majority of cases ebay and Paypal will side with the buyer.

You could sell an item for £100, receive 10% commission but then be faced with having to refund £100. If the person for whom you are fronting decides not to pay you'll be £100 out of pocket! If you are using your own PayPal account they will draw upon funds from your bank to pay.

Another thing, if you are selling quite a lot of items you may well even be liable to pay VAT. The threshold is £77 000. If you sell 100 items a week at £20 each you'll be liable. Who's going to pay that? If you have another income from being self employed - say £30 000 - then you'll only need to be turning over £47 000 of items.

Perhaps it's not that big, but you get the idea. There are loads of variables to consider. HMRC watches auctions sites like eBay and picks up on sellers who are obviously trading as a business. If you are going to do this MAKE SURE the eBay account and the PayPal account are in the name of the other person.
