Drove threw new ferry (new Chester rd) about 1030. Outside shillings there was a few police cars, nothing new, as we drove passed saw more cars and what looked like somone on the floor outside the carpet shop an it cordened off. Came bk this way around 1115 and the ferry from shillings to the coop and down to the pizza place roughly are cordoned off now. Saw 5 marked cars, 3 unmarked cars and further down a mira van!!! Anyone know anything??

police helicopter was out earlier, hovering over our house and the bypass, not sure if this could be related.

just been on a walk, top of the Ferry by Shillings is cordoned off, Forensics are there taking photos of the scene. somebody may have been seriously injured or possibly killed.

incidentally, last night one of our neighbours was followed home by a woman in her 30s. the woman was demanding money and help off our neighbour. i thought they knew each other so didn't think anything of it. that was until this woman picked up a 5ft length of upvc cladding and threw it at our front window. ran out after her but she was long gone.

hate living in new ferry, it's turned in to a right dive over the past few years, can't wait to move.

I have lived in New ferry for all of my 52 years. Yes it has changed, but no more so than most other places. I wish people would stop slagging it off, it's a hell of a lot safer than a lot of places on the wirral, and I'm not afraid to walk around at night for fear of being attacked. Until the details of this incident are made public, don't blame the area.

I too am in New Ferry as it was the only place I could afford for a mortgage. Have been here for 5 years and never once had a problem. I love the sense of community here and am never scared or worried about walking the streets. My road is lovely and we all look out for each other.

People are always quick to comment on the people of New Ferry in a defamatory manner. When something happens elsewhere people tend not to think it is 'typical' like they do for New Ferry.

New Ferry is not a 'right dive' as said earlier. Yes, there are areas that need attention, but you've got to look at the benefits of New Ferry.

1. Cheap housing
2. Specialist shops (Edge's, Farmer's Market, George Lunt and the greengrocer etc)
3. Transport links (trains and buses)
4. We have the river and Port Sunlight to enjoy.
5. Redevelopment (such as proposed work on old tip and the esplanade)
6. Sense of community
7. The fascinating history of the area.

It is easy to criticise an area, but in the time I have lived here, the only real negative change was local shops and businesses closing down due to the recession.

Other people have the same (and different) problems in other areas.

Totally agree on the new ferry having a bad rep, ive lived all over Wirral and new ferry is prob the safest place ive lived. I live on the main rd too and never hear anything really apart from the odd drunk, my neighbours make more noise lol. People need to stop blaming the area and think more about the people in the area!!

But back to the topic, what ever happend I hope the injured man is ok.... regardless of who he is!!

Grew up in New Ferry, near the tip/Bolton Rd East.

Just has muppets like every other area, no worse and no safer than other places of similar towns. Had trouble with idiots twice in the 27 years I lived there not a bad % really.

There are certain parts/street corners where the muppets congregate and you learn the best way around, even the local scallies are ok, in the main they will watch your back once you are a recognized face.

Basically they don't poop on their own doorstep mainly.

I was in the John Masefield last night when this happened and the rumours were flying round within minutes about a local bag head being stabbed.
Although I've lived in New Ferry since 94, and have grown to love it here, I never really drank in the Ferry.
Over the last 10 months or so I've been going in the John Masefield and I can honestly say that 99% of the people I've met in there have been warm and friendly.
The staff are absolutely wonderful and that is enough to keep me going back, so now I've become a bit of a regular.
In saying this I do also wonder what New Ferry would be like if the John Masefield were to close.
Unfortunately circumstances and bad luck dictate that I have to leave New Ferry by the end of February and I'm absolutely gutted.

I'm a right miserable b**tard aren't I grin , completely went OTT last night and some of the previous posts have made me realise that it aint too bad after all. John Masefield is a decent pub and I suppose I should drink in there more often, Edge is also a decent butchers and I also love going Griffiths' on a Saturday to pick up a few pies.

Never really had any problems in our road and our neighbours are great.

Hope he bloke makes a full recovery.
