Is there still a footpath between Bidston and Wallasey?
I've recently come across a few pics and have been wandering if there were several paths and where they may have started and finished.
Could the older painting have been a bridge across the Fender or the Birket (or was the artist adding details that weren't there)

I rekon the first Picture ( little bridge ) is right next to bidston golfclub club house. Its the path that leads to bidston station under the M53. The river is the Birket.

In the 1950-60's the Bidston Footpath
ran from Mosslands Drive past the "Triangle"
pond, alongside the Bidston Dock steam line,
over the electric line, to Bidston Station
and the road up to Bidston Village. Used to
ride along it on my bike - even once when
Bidston Moss was flooded.

I think it is still there, though
rerouted to allow for M53 B&Q etc.
I think it is the green dashed line on here:-

Hi Derek,

I walk it quite often, I live near Harrison Drive. I take the path where it starts next to the football pitch next to Mosslands school, Mosslands Drive, the path goes under the motorway, over the railway and ends up near Bidston station.
Tarmac surface all the way so suitable for bikes.
You might need boots in the winter there are bits that flood a bit.

We used to run (sort of) along this footpath in the late 70s, early 80s, on cross-country runs from Mosslands School. It was either that route (up as far as the windmill) or, running in the opposite direction, along Leasowe Road to the lighthouse and then along the front.

They could try but they won't get far. To close a footpath you have to prove it's not used and this one is, lots.

See you in cyberspace!
