Hi Can anyone advise, why suddenly i cant sign in to my e-mail account on windows live, i keep getting a box appearing telling me to retype my username and password, i am doing that correct, the last time my e-mail was open was Sunday.I get an error message as follows. Unable to send or receive messages for the Home e-mail account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.
Server Error: 0x800CCC90 Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] Incorrect username or password. Server: 'mail.btinternet.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92 Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No In addition to this i cant access my e-mail from my mobile it tells me my log in is incorrect
Anybody got any ideas please..

If its more than 16 characters only enter the first 16 an leave the rest off

sounds like the configuration settings are wrong to me.
open email. click on tools via sub menu & click on accounts. enter correct details & click ok.
you may need to restart. if you need assistance contact bt broadband. you might need a large mug of tea & a reasonable supply of tobacco as the call centres are based in india & you may find them difficult to understand as most are not kocher with english lingo. the last time I rang bt I nearly had a breakdown, never again.

Hi. Thankyou for your comments. My password is only 9 digits long. I have re entered them and re booted pc. I have also re booted router. Still no avail!! My internet provider is sky although i still have a bt e mail address. Have had this address for years with no issues up to now. When i open e mail i get icon ' checking mail' then the password box appears again and again.

It could be a problem at the ISP if its still not working in a few hours then there is a problem that needs investigating.
You say it wouldnt work on your mobile. Is that mobile connecting to your wifi to connect to the internet? If so the problem is with your router / connection /ISP
If you can not connect and its your phones network then its a problem with livemail servers (It does happen). So give it a few hours and see if all comes good on its own.

The Forum Moderation team have responded. It is a know issue. They say: Thanks for the email. I do understand that this has been very frustrating for you. I have been looking into this and there is a known issue with the email accounts being locked or showing as having problems with username and password, when more the one mode is used in trying to access that account, ie PC and mobile phone. At the moment there is no known fix for this other than to try and only use one mode at a time. I am not sure how you have your mobile set up to fetch data, it might help if you change your setting to manual so that it only looks for data when you are accessing the account.
My understanding of the problem is that it only happens when both modes have been used in quick succession. I know that it can be frustrating in trying to only use the one method in accessing you email and do understand that this isn't always possible. BT is aware of the problems but unfortunately I would not say for sure if and when a solution will be put into place.

Thank you Edd. I dont usually access mail from pc and mobile at same time. Im hoping i can resolve the issue now i have deleted program from phone.
