Just noticed I use kies air, but shows up as an orange ap as kies.
There is loads of problems with kies on a USB lead. But kies air will work a treat.
kies air is not compatable with s8500, you could try upgrading from bada 1.2 to 2.0, and try moving your pics that way.
You can exchange data between your PC and your GT S8500 phone in several ways.
The simplest is to use Samsung Kies. If this program is installed on your PC, you can exchange data with the PC.
In the home screen, press the Menu key (centre key between "Send" and "End") to take you to the applications screen, select Settings > Connectivity > USB > Samsung Kies > Set.
Press the "End" key button to return to idle mode.
Using the PC data cable, connect the handset via the Micro USB multifunction jack on your phone to your PC.
Run Samsung Kies and the device will appear with your phone number on the right hand side of the Kies screen.
Double click on the My Computer icon, located in the top left corner.
Navigate to and click on any folder that contains, for example, the Pictures or Videos you wish to transfer.
Double click on the handset icon and ensure that the Images folder contents are shown.
Drag and drop (or copy and paste) the Pictures or Videos from the PC into the handset's Photos, Images or Videos folder (For multiple files hold down the Ctrl key).
In the pop-up window, Kies will show the file being transferred.
Pictures or Videos are transferred.
After the file transfer is complete it is safe to disconnect the data cable from both devices.
To transfer pictures from the handset, simply repeat the steps above copying from the handset's Photos, Images or Videos folder to the desired designation on the PC.
The GT-S8500 also has a micro SD card reader. If your PC has a SD card reader you can read and write images, data, mp3 files etc to and from the SD card and exchange data this way.
You can transfer files via Bluetooth with your PC if it has Bluetooth. Make sure the Bluetooth is active on your PC. From your home screen of your GT-S8500, press the central button, select Settings then Connectivity then Bluetooth then Search. Your PC should appear in the device list, simple select it to pair with the PC. You may be asked for a security code – the default is "0000". Once connected you should be able to browse files on your PC from your device.
The GT-S8500 has a mass storage mode.
In the home screen, press the central button to take you to the applications screen, select Settings > Connectivity. Scroll down to USB > Mass Storage > Set.
Press "End" button to return to idle mode.
Using the PC data cable, connect handset via the Micro USB multifunction jack on your phone to your PC.
The device should appear as a Drive – or two drives if you are using an external SD card, on your PC. You can copy files to and from the drive as you would on a PC normally.
You can also set the device so that it will ask which connection you wish to use on connection of the device to a USB port on a PC.
