Boarded the 23:35 service from Bromborough Rake to Liverpool last night with my partner, have to say the train was full of 18-22 year old's drinking and screaming as they were obviously going to Liverpool on a night out, as we pulled up to Liverpool Central, the stop 90% of the train wanted to get off at, myself and my partner were one of the very last to get off the train... However as we walked behind other people towards the doors, the beeping sound of the doors closing started and the doors shut nearly trapping people in the doors. The amount of people on the platform was shocking and how the rear guard of the train decided it was time to shut the doors, as dozens of people were still pouring from the doors is beyond me. Myself and my partner had to ride the train until James St, were I got off the train and vented my anger and concerns at the rear guard to make him aware he nearly trapped people in the doors of the train as he closed them prematurely. He claimed it was safe and nobody was getting off, but it was clear from the amount of people still stuck on the train he was wrong, he seemed stunned I decided to make him aware of his error. This all comes after the sad death of a young girl, and it clearly shows nothing has been done to learn the lessons, I was fuming and shaking, it could of been a lot worse, what will it take for these people to wake up? Just because its the last service of the day, it isn't an excuse to fall asleep and assume things will be okay when people's safety is at risk. Urgh!

It was the grand national and l/pool vs everton, so I would expect it to be little busy.
Uncertainty or not knowing causes depression, Im happy because I know I'm going to die one day!

I think you missed the point, I'm not addressing an issue with the amount of people on the train, I'm pointing out the issue with a half asleep rear guard, that trapped people on the train, and could of seriously injured somebody, or worse, by closing the doors when not safe.

Complain in writing to Merseyrail. You might want to make the point that the guard, technically, falsely imprisoned you.

It doesn't matter one jot how busy it is. It is the Guard's duty to ensure the doors are clear before pressing the "close" button. From what you say, he failed to do this.
I hope this was reported officially - apart from venting your spleen on the Guard later. I'm sure he won't have reported himself !

The only contact address on the Merseyrail website is this one: The Customer Relations team, 9th Floor Rail House, Lord Nelson Street, Liverpool, L1 1JF.

You'll recall what happened last time a guard did that.
You'd expect them to be very twitchy about doing it again.

That is exactly what happened to the young girl, the guard shut the doors on her after she got off and tried to get back on realising it wasn't her stop. She was leaning on the train doors at the time and the gaurd wouldn't open them and let the train drive off knowing quite well the girl was leaning on the train, this caused her to slip inbetween the train. The CCTV was played in court last week and this is why the gaurd is up on charges. So it's still going on is it? Disgusting bench, i hope you can sort this matter out, they obviously don't care about thier customers

The cctv footage will now either mysteriously 'cloud' or disappear.

The cctv footage will now either mysteriously 'cloud' or disappear. The CCTV footage certainly wont cloud. The cameras on the underground stations are top quality. And they certainly wont disappear either. They have to be kept incase of an incident. If they were to disappear, then there would be very serious consequences for those in charge of it.

Notwithstanding the '..certainly wont's...' followed by '...if they were to disappear, then there would be very serious consequences...', my response still stands as is.
