Well done Phil That would be the 30s Ark I think,pic2 is upstairs in the joiners shop where they would manufacture and assemble, below they kept stockpiles of timber etc. The Audacious was finished around 1913 and was one of the most up to date battleships at the time. The last time I looked the joiners shop was still there, as you enter Campbeltown rd from where Lairds main entrance was its the first large building on the left heading towards Rock Ferry.

Nice pics. Are they 1930's type tugs? Look a bit later to me, just guessing. Easiest way to tell, look above anchor, pic 50s Ark.

cant be the 1950's, there is an F4 Phantom at the rear of the flight deck, dont think the RN had Phantoms until the 1970's.

cant be the 1950's, there is an F4 Phantom at the rear of the flight deck, dont think the RN had Phantoms until the 1970's. Stay awake at the back  Built in the 50s, decommissioned 1978.

I dont understand what you mean by 'stay awake at the back' Your post on the colour picture of HMS Ark Royal implies the picture was taken in the 1950's. I have simply pointed out that due to the aircraft on board it has to be the 1970's. simples!
