TWO Wirral boxers are about to make their professional debuts in the ring.

Sean Dodd and Sean Lewis, who are members of the Birkenhead Venture Gym, have signed contracts with a Manchester-based manager.

And they will take on their first professional fight on Saturday, March 3, at the Northgate Arena in Chester.

A spokesman for Birkenhead Venture said: "For both of them becoming professional boxers will fulfil long term ambitions that they have had since they started boxing.

"The hard training undertaken at Venture will ensure that they are in top condition when they step into the professional ring for the first time in Chester."

Two-time national champion Dodd leaves the amateurs with an impressive record of 17 wins from 19 contests and will compete as a lightweight.

Lewis will box in the welterweight division and has already lost over half a stone as he moves down in weight from his last amateur contest.

Tickets for the Chester show are available from the Venture Gym on Brassey Street, Birkenhead or from the boxers directly priced £35 and £60.

There will also be coaches available for those that need transport.
