Steak, fried onions (caramelised), peas, chips. Take a cast iron frying pan, put it on the range with ground black pepper and plenty of rock salt (if not then any salt) and whack up the heat at full until the salt starts turning brown and the pan is smoking. Make sure it's a dry pan , no oil in it. When the pan is ready, slap the nice thick steak in and do it 5 mins each side (or depending on how you like your steak), fry off the onions and your chips in the meantime as usual. Serve and enjoy. This method was from Keith Floyd and I can wholly recommend it. I have this most Saturdays.
Forgot to mention, extractor hood recommended as fumes from salty quite sharp on the throat.
That sounds good Bandy. I love steak and I love onions too. I might give that a bash. It sounds simple enough. It's GOT to be simple for me to do it. I can burn a glass of water no bother!!!
Got the black pepper and there's a HUGE bin of rock salt down the lane. The council topped it up last week. Sorted!

I love a bit of pate too. I got it from Tesco in Bidston. I was doing some late night shopping and bought it on impulse as I had had no tea.

Thanks. That sounds nice. I may give it a try next time I am in Birkenhead.
