Great photos.
First looks like late victorian/edwardian from the style of dress, second certainly post WW2.
I work regularly at the Floral and Ive often wondered where this pier was as there seems no physical trace/marker left, assumed it was on the river side round by the old Chelsea Reach. Where was the Tower, also?

Hi Ad, the ferry and Pier was at the bottom of Victoria Road. There is a small pump station where the Pier would have started. The Tower was at the top of the hill approx 150metres from the ferry. There are flats there now. I have some more photos I'll dig out for you

They would be great to see. Was at the new Morrisons the other day with the missus whos a cockney girl, was explaining that we had a tower here once bigger than Blackpool's, and a pier better than Brighton's.

God help us,
Come yourself,
Don't send Jesus,
This is no place for children.

Don't forget that exactly on the Morrisons site was the largest outdoor pool in Europe

I just want to say thank's for putting these picture's on as i moved here a year ago and love seeing old history.Whilst walking the dog along the beach there still remain's sign's of the old pier and we often wondered what was there as it looked to us some sort of paddling pool but seeing the pier now it must be part of the base support.Keep them coming really appreciated ..

I'll do my best Mark. Trying not to put photos up that have already been posted. Spose it's better that they are up twice than not at all...

You have the tower building in the wrong place. Needs to be much further right. Note the first photo of the pier has no promenade entrance as it did later. Entrance was off the ferry pier.

It must date to before 1900, as the Promenade Pier to the left was until then only accessible from the Ferry Pier, as shown in the photo. In 1900 the Promenade Pier was extended to meet the Promenade, so that people could get onto it from the near end as well as the side.
