Tower Ballroom, New Brighton On the 10th November 2011 it will be 50 years
since Sam Leach presented THE BEATLES at the
Tower Ballroom, New Brighton, Wirral. A second
show two weeks later on the 24th November is
a UK mainland attendance record for a Beatles
show. The Merseybeat Story at Fort Perch Rock, New
Brighton will celebrate these dates with a
number of events on Sunday 20th November
11pm to 5pm. The day will consist of the
following:- Ray O’Brien (Beatles Historian) will conduct a New Brighton Beatles tour which will conclude at
the site of the Tower Ballroom, at 1pm were The
Mayor of Wirral and Beatles Promoter Sam Leach
will unveil a plaque which acknowledges that
the Beatles played the venue on some 27
occasions. Thanks are due to Wirral Borough Council who have funded and installed the plaque The tour is free – we will meet at the entrance to Fort Perch Rock for 11am. Fort Perch Rock opens at noon with an exhibition of Beatles posters by the original artist
Tony Booth. The Merseybeat Story at Fort Perch Rock starts at 1pm with BBC’s TV Star Paul Hayes and his band The Collection plus special guest Cliff Roberts. Topping the bill will be the Dominoes, compere for the day will be Harry Prytherch with Sam Leach in attendance. The day will also see the launch of the Beatles/
Merseybeat poster calendar 2012 and The Wirral
& Liverpool Beatles Tour which is a new business
and highlights Wirral’s connection with the
world’s super group. Many Merseybeat related
personalities have been invited and the day will conclude with the Merseybeat Story Hall of Fame
inductions. Entrance is £6.00 further information on Tel: 0151 512 8398. Fort Perch Rock, Marine Promenade, New Brighton, Wirral, CH45 2JU www.fortperchrock.org
