i used to have an open fire and the best place to buy coal is at petrol stations its not too expensive

I think most of wirral is a smokeless zone, so if you have a woodburner it needs to be a DEFRA approved one, or the fines are hefty to say the least. If you are in the smokeless area, you can't burn ordinary coal, only the smokeless kind. Rightway sell coal, and quite often have special offers on. Laraine
